A New Week to Enjoy

 

Well I am slowly getting to feel better. The blood work last week came back good. I will see what the Doc has to say tomorrow on how I am doing. The only big problem I still have is my feet. I haven’t had the meds for them now forever a month now. It feels like I have a ball in the arch of each foot. They have been slowly getting better.

 

I went down and helped a buddy of mine brand calves this morning. We only had 9 to do. Between him, me and two other friends we got them done.  The calves and cows are going to be hauled to the hills in the morning.

 

I have been out with the horses doing a little with them.  If I get a good report from the Doc I am going to start riding the Blue roan stud.  I will hopefully be able to help move cows next Sat.

Linda’s Special Showing of her Jewelry the week before Mother’s Day went extremely well.  We were surprised at the following of people that Linda and her jewelry has in the Idaho Falls area. The pictures of the display can be seen on our Facebook page at (https://www.facebook.com/mlranchjewelry1).

We are planning on doing another Jewelry Showing over the 4^th of July here in Idaho Falls.

Linda taught Earring classes for the area youth last weekend at the Snake River Fiber Fair.  The youth loved the class and took home earrings to wear.  Linda was asked to come back next year to teach and also be a vendor at their show.

All in all ML Ranch Jewelry is having a good late spring and waiting for summer, jewelry shows and fishing.

A New Week

A New Week

 

Well I am feeling better every day.  I still am slow but able to help out around the house. Linda has been really good at making sure I take easy. It was just 2 months when I was helping her get around after her hip replacement. It just shows that life will throw you changes you weren’t anticipating.

 

I just back from the Doctor’s office today. The weight is still coming off good, blood pressure is down, and blood sugar is good.

 

If I can continue to lose the weight and everything else looks good my days od diabetes meds will be over.

 

I am feeling better every day and hope in a couple of weeks of getting back to the new normal me.

We are now working on the web site. The web site is still not done yet. With the work that was needed for the Special Showing has taken more time than we had planned on. We have finished all of the work needed for the Jewelry showing next week.

A Missing Couple of Weeks

A Missing Couple of Weeks

Well ML Ranch Jewelry has been absent from the blog for about 2 weeks now.

I had my kidneys go into failure on the 22^nd of April. They had to transport me to the hospital and started tests on me. At first they thought there was an interaction between my prescribed meds. Further tests that nite showed my kidneys had failed and my BP was 40/20. They started to aggressively treat me right a way. For a while they weren’t sure how bad  the damage was and if the kidneys would respond. They continued to treat me and try to determine the reason for the kidney failure. They let me out last Fri afternoon with strict instuctionson how to proceed.

 

I followed their instructions and went back on Weds for a checkup. They put me back on a half of blood pressure pill, 2 tramadol a day, and a pill for the restless leg syndrome I have. They also pulled more blood work to check on the kidneys.

 

We called back on Thurs to check the numbers.  The numbers showed the kidney numbers back to normal.  They were pleasantly surprised as I was.

 

I still have to lose more weight, watch my blood sugar, monitor my blood pressure and watch my diet. I will see how the Doc feels I am doing on Weds when I go back to see him.

 

I am starting to feel better but I know I have a long way to go. I do miss not being able to take the cows back up to summer pasture.

We are now working on the web site. The site is coming along slower than we wanted. Live enters and changes priorities and takes other things off the table. I am hoping that by next week before the jewelry show starts we can have the website and going.

A Busy Weekend at the Ranch

A Busy Weekend at the Ranch

 

We moved the rescue horses into the round pen. We have found that palomino now that she is eating good is getting meaner.  We have to put her up on the fence to get caught. If she is tied up it has to be solid or otherwise she will pull it down and run with whatever is wrapped in the rope. Then she is a real pain to catch. We think now that she is being fed regularly and feeling better some of the past bad handling and other issues are resurfacing.

 

The Animal Control officer out on Thursday. We talked about the horses, what needs to be done with them and just in general problems. The palomino was the horse main topic od discussion. I told them she was a horse that couldn’t be trusteed to have kids handle her, handling my adults was also a big issue, trimming her feet without being sedated wasn’t happening, and her future.

 

My feeling is where she can’t be trusted she should be a permanent pasture art where she is fed and not handled much or taken to the landfill and put down. I feel the latter is the best for her. She isn’t mellowing as expected and is getting worse to be around.  I talked to the daughter who is in charge of the horse rescue about her and we decided to wait on her till after the court case is over.

We are now working on the web site. The site is coming along slower than I wanted. Live enters and changes priorities and takes other things off the table. I am hoping that by next week we can have the website and going. I am leaving  q week from Weds to take cows up to the hills for summer pasture for 5 days. When I get back we will be getting ready for Linda’s Jewelry Showing.

 

We have finished all of the work needed for the Jewelry showing. We are waiting on full announcement till we confirm on Monday with the shop owner that we are good to go. Once we have that commitment from them we will provide details here and on Facebook.

Linda has decided to hold off on a knee replacement for now. She is going to see how it feels as she gets to feeling better with her hip replacement.

Linda is making jewelry at a furious pace.  Her original and unique one of kind designs is going to be a nice pick of jewelry over the mass produced designs out there in other jewelry stores.

A Slow Wednesday at the Ranch

A Slow Wednesday at the Ranch

 

We had the Animal Control officer’s out to look at the rescue horses. They hadn’t been out for 2 weeks as they were on vacation.  We went over their status and the path forward their boss agreed to on Monday.

 

We are going to get the vet appt. to have their teeth floated and on a weight increase program set up by the vet.  We will also have J-Lo put under to also have her feet trimmed. This the only way she is going she allows someone to work on her feet.

We are now working on the web site. The site is coming along well.  We should have it up by the first of next week.

We are also finishing the last details for Linda’s jewelry showing. We will announce the dates and location next week.

A Slow Monday at the Ranch

A Slow Monday at the Ranch

 

Well it was supposed to be slow Monday for me. Well it started slow but ramped up when we found out the Sheriff’s Dept. wanted to see the Rescued 2 horses. The Muley colored horse was easy to catch. The palomino horse was a different story. After she tried to take me twice in the stall while putting a halter on I had to call in for help.  We got her haltered and tied up.

 

I had the Alternate school kids work on grooming the Muley. I took on the palomino. We she was good on the right side till I started on the hind quarter. She has one mean kick. She knows where she is going to hit when she kicks. She almost nailed me on the first kick. She has a kick that a dairy cow would love to have.

 

I tried to groom her left side and the kick was alive and dead on accurate. She is only able to see a little due to an injured eye that is now cloudy. I gave up after the third kick.

 

The sheriff showed up to look at them. He agreed that they need to have their teeth floated and on a weight increase program set up by the vet. We will make an appointment to get the vet work done

Saturday at the Ranch

Well we had a nice slightly breezy day in SE Idaho. The steady  breeze was 35 mph and the slightly breezier wind was 55 mph and up.  Needless to say it wasn’t a good day to be outside.

 

Well I spent the morning and part of the afternoon helping a friend of mine brand calves and vaccinate cows. Due to the breeze and threat of rain we breezed thru 80 plus calves and the same amount of cows in record time. It was too cold and miserable to drink beer and Bull S@@t. WE wanted to get done and get out of the breeze and warm up.  We even had to wait for lunch get done. We were don almost an hour earlier than lunch was planned for.

 

Well after getting out of the breeze we then started up the Bull S@@t. The beer drinkers in the crowd started to have some. It was too cold for me to drink beer. I shot of crown would have tasted good. However the guy in charge of bringing the crown (ie-me) forgot to bring it.  So I stuck to water and coffee. We will have at least one more day of branding the late calves in a couple of weeks to do after the main bunch of the cows and calves go to the hills.

 

We start the cows to the hills around 2^nd of May. This is a 4 day trip to get them from his place to the ranch in the hills. It is 35 miles by the road to trail them up. Nobody only does the 35 miles other than the windshield cowboys.  The weather can go from hot and sunny to rain or snow. Almost 30 years ago we had 20 inches of shoe to slog thru.  We were all glad on Sunday to crawl in the truck cab and warm up and dry out.

Well ML Ranch Jewelry has added 20 plus items to our online stores.  Check out these new designs and creations Linda has come up with.   We have 4 items that need the pictures redone and then added to the stores.

We will be adding more products here shortly to the stores.  We need at least one day to get the web site done and up and running on the web. The new web site will show off product that is available to  buy at the online stores. We made the decision to not sell from the web site. The  SSL , which is required to protect your credit card, is getting too pricey to maintain. The cost would have caused an increase in jewelry prices which we felt was not what we wanted to do based on our business plan.  The online stores charges on selling product are low enough to ensure no price increases.
