Well it was a quiet day around the Ranch today.  Linda ran her last minute errands she needed to before her surgery tomorrow.

I worked with the ponies today.  Sir Lance the youngest mule colt was actually leading and following fairly well today. I was rather glad he did as I didn’t want to fight with him.  Some days he is a typical mule. You have to convince them that what you want them to do is the idea and not yours.  Fighting with a mule to do something is a fight you won’t win.  

I think I have everything I needed to do before Linda’s surgery done.  I have plenty of things to do while I am helping her out after she gets home Sun or Mon.

PS-Linda says buy lots of Jewelry. That way she will have money to pay the hip replacement bills.

A Good Day

Well an Update to yesterday’s “The Ugly”

I had emailed the Jackson Hole Art Fair coordinator last nite to see what I had to do to get our entry accepted. I told her what Zapp had emailed to me.

Well the Art Fair coordinator emailed me back this morning. She stated that the application was complete and the pictures were indeed in the right place. She also let me know we will be juried the middle of March. I will let you know how we do.

I breathed normally this morning after her note.

In emailed Zapp about their application problem. The answer back was a thanks but no thanks answer.

 

On a Good Note – ML Ranch jewelry is having a “Spring into Spring” Sale. Everything has been marked down 40%.

Today outside it felt like Spring was on the way.  It was a blue bird day with just a light breeze. The snow was melting and making lakes and plenty of mud. I am looking forward it to dry out for a while.  I am getting next real ready to put the heavy insulated boots away till next fall.  I do know that when we take the cows to the hills in Late April it may snow 18 inches.  It has done it before and it is likely to happen again

We are getting things done to get ready for Linda’s Hip Replacement Surgery.  I think we are going to be ready by tomorrow nite.  I will post up on how she is doing probably this weekend.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Ugly   I finished the pictures for the Jackson Hole Art Fair application.  I had to try 7 different times to get the Zapp application for the Art Fair to finally go thru late last nite. This morning I got a note stating pictures were in one spot and not the other spot per the app. I have sent an email to the Jackson Hole Art Fair person on the problem. It appears I will have to get the app put in the not received properly and then try to get it resent.

The Good  I did get our brood mare into the vet yesterday for a preg test. When I walked her in the vet had that look like she wasn’t with foal. He donned his gear and checked her out. He looked at me and said “well Grandpa you have a mare with a big foal”.  He said later he would have bet she wasn’t bred.  The vet and I have brought her in before because the girls said she was with foal and found out she wasn’t.  The girl’s last nite said we told you she was bred and you didn’t believe us.  I just said you girls are right.

I took my stud colt to get his teeth floated.  He is hard to keep weight on so I hope getting his teeth done will  help to get keep some weight on. The smell the from the saws all with a rasp (i.e.-file) wasn’t too bad or I was just tired enough where it didn’t register with me.  It took him about an hour to have the drugs where off where he could move normally.

Today was pedicures for the 3 horses and 2 mule babies.  The stud and my black mare Fallon got trim and new shoes on.  The brood mare and her 2 mule babies just  got a hoof trim.

The Somewhat Bad  The babies are getting better with the trims to their hoofs.  They are by no means good enough to ground tie and stand back while the farrier does his work. The 2 year old mule baby is going to start her ground manners and getting used to a pack saddle. I want to lead her around this summer with the pack saddle and some water and a few other things in the pack bags.

I have 2 days to get things done so when Linda gets home I can be around to help her. Luckily we have made the house handicap accessible which will help greatly.

We are taking pictures of more of Linda’s necklaces to add to the online stores.  I will work  on them and the earrings pic’s while Linda is in the hospital for her Hip Replacement. It will give me something to do during her surgery and dozing from the pain meds.

Linda finished my Amethyst Necklace yesterday.  She made a 4 strand silk braid for the necklace . She also made the clasp for it.  The two pieces together are a great combination. Linda’s original design for  necklace was  great. Several people who saw it today really liked her design for the necklace, the clasp, and handmade bale for the piece of Amethyst.  I have attached several pictures of the necklace.

On another note our little Chihuahua SA has thing about pictures taken.  She runs to Ma to be protected.  SA doesn’t mind when I take pictures up stairs. She doesn’t like them downstairs and we don’t know why.

I am still working on the pictures for the Art Fair application. I have decided on the 4 pictures for the submittal. I will finish the editing and attached them.  The picture for the booth layout is one from the Art Fair.

I will start editing those pictures we took Saturday next week. I will work  on them while Linda is in the hospital for her Hip Replacement. It will give me something to do during her surgery and dozing from the pain meds.

Well tomorrow I will find out if our brood mare is with foal.  I hope she is bred.  The colt from her and my blue roan stud should an awesome colt.  I will let you what the vet says.

My stud is going to get his teeth floated while we are at the vet. They use a reciprocating with different files in them. They hold the mouth open and file away. The smell from the ground teeth is not for those with a weak stomach.

Busy Day at the Ranch

Linda has received a lot of good comments her Original Disney Bracelet.  They love the different colors used in the wire wrap on the C-Koop pendent.  They also love the Teal choker for it.  It would be a great Choker – Necklace with a white blouse for a casual night on the town.

Well the weatherman said we would get a inch of snow today. He should have rephrased the forecast to say and inch an hour for 8 hours. The roads are like glass tonight and very slick. I found that out when I was out running an errand. I need his job and pay to be wrong at least 50% of the time. That would be a nice gig to have.

It was a bummer to have the snow during the day.  I wanted to ride my stud colt today.  I will wait till next week to ride him.

Work Day at the Ranch

Linda finished the “Disney Bracelet” last night as she joking calls it. The C-Kopp pendant with the multi colored abstract design is one of Linda’s most colorful designs. The Teal colored Viking Knit choker really compliments the pendant well. I have the pictures of the necklace to post up tonight.

The search for the photos to submit to the Art Fair is getting down to the last 100 or so photo’s. However with the new photos being taken may add to the list. We need to have them submitted by Monday evening.

I think the Ground Hog is of on the early Spring. We are supposed to get another 3 inches tonight.  We need the moisture after last year’s drought.  The lakes need the increased supply to  provide the farmers with water to grow their crops.

Well back to the photo search and editing.

Good Day to be Inside

I am still going through the 500 plus photos to find 4 to be entered. Picking a photo can appear easy to find. However the editing of the photo to be show quality is where the work starts.  I have one folder of the ones that I couldn’t to edit them to show quality.  I wish we could enter more photos so I could show Linda’s jewelry design and crafting capabilities.  

The 4 inches of snow we had this morning turned out to be a surprise to most folks when they had to go to work this morning. The roads were slick and the snow didn’t let up till later.  This afternoon the weather turned to be nice sky blue afternoon. 

Linda is working on a multicolored wired wrapped pendant.  She is also doing a colored Viking Knit to be part of the necklace. Linda is joking that it is the Disney Necklace. As soon as she has the Viking Knit done and the pendent on it I will post up pictures hopefully tomorrow.

I have am still working on the dog training.  He has his good moments and then he has the 8 month old, 80 pound brain fart.  When he has the mind block he is definitely hard to handle.  I will say he is getting a little better on his manners.  Some days I don’t know who is winning.

Well back to the photo search and editing.

Art Fair Application

ML Ranch Jewelry spent most of the day working on the Jackson Hole Art Fair application. We are working on getting the photo’s edited right. I have about 500 photo’s to go through to get the 4 we want.  We only get to submit 4 pieces of Jewelry and one of a booth setup.

The weather here today was cold, windy, and Snow showers. I thought the ground hog said spring was coming.  I think the wires got crossed on the weather. I hope it is better tomorrow so I can ride my colt after I finish the Jackson Hole Art Fair application.

I have continued on the dog training.  He has his good moments and then he has the 8 month old brain fart. When he has the mind block he is hard to handle. I will say he is getting better on his manners.

Viking Knit Day

Linda is working on a Viking knit . The Viking knit will be used with a wire wrapped pendent.  The Knit is being done with Vintage Bronze. She at the present time is pulling the knit through the draw plate. The draw plate has holes in it of different diameters.  Linda just got done pulling it to the final diameter.  The Vintage Bronze is my favorite for using in the knit.

I also am working with my Lab pup on his manners. The electric hearing aid (ie-electric shock collar) is starting to get his attention and working wonders with him till today.  He had a brain lock up today. He did not want to respond to the shock collar.  I had to hit the panic button on the collar to finally get him to respond.  

I have been using the whistle along with hearing aid to tune his response and manners which today were in doubt.  I need him listening well by the time Linda comes home from the hospital after her hip replacement.

Easy Monday at the Ranch

We spent the day getting chores done. Linda is working on a Viking knit . The Viking knit will be used with a wire wrapped pendent. The Knit is being done with Vintage Bronze. The Vintage Bronze is my favorite for using in the knit.

I wasn’t feeling real shiny today.I had body aches like I had the flu.  My MS shot last night got the best of me. This happens every so often on Monday’s. I put some more shavings in the stalls. They all got back in the stall tonight and rolled in the shavings. My stud colt will be laying down in the stall most of the night. He likes laying down in the stall.

Slow weekend at ML Racnch Jewelry

This weekend was slow one for us.  We worked on some new wire wrap jewelry.  I will post up some pictures hopefully tomorrow.  Linda is designing and crafting some other wire wrapped jewelry to start the week off.  The new design is interesting and will be a show piece.

I spent the weekend cleaning stalls and playing with the mules. The mules are interesting to work with. Mules are not like horses and you have to change the mindset when working with them. The Molly colt Rosie I am starting to do ground work with her.  I am going get to her ready to wear a packsaddle with light bags of misc. stuff.  I will lead her behind my Walker mare.  I am not sure if I want to lead her with the stud horse.

I also am working with my Lab pup. I need to make sure he has manners when Linda comes home after her hip replacement.  I don’t want him knocking Linda down.

We will be taking pic’s this week of new jewelry pieces.  Then we will do the usual touch on pic’s and add the copyright stamp to them.  Linda will work on the wording for each piece.  Then we will update the e-online stores with the new inventory.

Quiet Day at the Ranch

Linda is wondering what folks thought of the wire wrapped earrings and heart. Post up if you any comments good or bad. We want to make sure that we can provide you a piece of jewelry you will treasure.

It was quiet today at ML Ranch Jewelry. We are slowly getting things ready for March 1st. Linda is having a full hip replacement Mar 1st. She will be house bound for a month or so. Jewelry designing and crafting will be nonstop once she is feeling better.

New Wire Wrap designed Jewelry

Linda is continuing to craft new earring’s using different wire wrap designs. Several of the designs will be a definite hot looking item that won’t last long.

Here are photos of the  wire wrapped earring that was posted earlier this week. The photos show the finish of  two wire wrapped  earrings.

Linda also found a stone that contains some pyrite and looks like a heart. She did a neat wire wrap on it as both sides have a wire wrap, The stone looks awesome.

I apologize for the Blogs having the HTML text showing on them. I thought that was on my end only.  I found while redoing ML Ranch Jewelry web pages alot more about the HTML code and what si needed to be done. So in the future my Blog will look atleast this good and hopefully better.
